Absences

Sick notes without the phone. Deadlines that don’t slip by.

In the morning the phone rings in the school office, notes travel in school bags, and when a child is repeatedly absent, the deadline for the next stage lives in people’s heads and on scraps of paper. Prilog keeps track of the reports and the procedure — people still make the decisions.

What it often looks like today.

  • Between half past seven and eight, one parent after another calls — the school office takes notes and passes them on.
  • The class teacher only finds out in the first lesson who has been reported sick.
  • With repeated absence, someone notices on Wednesday that nobody called on Monday — the stage has been missed.
  • For the report to the school inspectorate, days absent, calls and meetings are pieced together after the fact.

How Prilog helps.

  1. 1

    Parents report by smartphone

Child, period, reason — in half a minute, even the evening before or at the weekend. The teacher is notified straight away.

  2. 2

    Teacher’s morning check

The daily overview shows who has been reported. Anyone missing without a report is recorded with one click.

  3. 3

    Monthly view

A grid per class shows sick, doctor’s appointment, unexcused and late — clusters stand out before they become a problem.

  4. 4

    Excuse notes and medical certificates

From the report through the certificate requirement to the excuse, the process is recorded. Whether an excuse is plausible is for the teacher to judge.

  5. 5

    Persistent-absence traffic light

It counts days absent in school weeks, knows the deadlines, suggests the next stage and reminds you of steps that are due. Contact attempts are documented with one click.

  6. 6

    Case file as a PDF

Stages, deadlines, days absent and every step with date and person on one sheet — as groundwork for the report to the school inspectorate, without retyping.

Persistent-absence procedures are a matter for each federal state. In Prilog, the thresholds and deadlines are not hard-coded but sit in an interchangeable procedure package. The procedure for Hamburg is currently tested and in use; Austria and the canton of Bern follow with the next update. For your federal state, we work out with you what is needed.

What Prilog deliberately does not do

  • Prilog never moves a case up a stage on its own — it suggests, a person confirms.
  • Whether an excuse is plausible is still for the teacher to judge.
  • The case file doesn’t replace an official form; it gathers the information for it.
